Judge Miranda Du was nominated by President Barrack Obama and took the oath of office on April 23, 2012. She maintains her chambers in Reno, Nevada.
Judge Du was born in Viet Nam and left with her family by boat when she was eight years old. Judge Du and her family immigrated to the United States and ultimately settled in Oakland, California. Judge Du graduated with honors in History and Economics from the University of California, Davis. She obtained her J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, Berkeley School of Law in May 1994.
Judge Du relocated to Nevada in 1994, when she joined McDonald Carano Wilson LLP, where she was the Chair of the Employment & Labor Law Group before her appointment to the bench. She has been an active member of the Northern Nevada community.
