2020 Ninth Circuit Civics Contest

Hello Nevada High Schools!

The 2020 Ninth Circuit Civics Contest has officially begun!

The Ninth Circuit Civics Contest is an essay and video contest for high school students in the western United States and Pacific Islands. The contest begins in early January 2020 and ends in late April 2020 (specific dates to follow). Rules, entry instructions and more information will be available at https://www.ca9.uscourts.gov/civicscontest/ .

Individual students can express their thoughts and ideas on the theme in an essay of between 500 and 1,000 words. Individuals and teams of up to three students can produce a 3-5 minute video on the theme. A student may submit both an essay and video, and may submit only one essay and be involved in the production of only one video.

The contest is open to high school students in nine western states and two Pacific Island jurisdictions. Students from public, private, parochial and charter schools and home-schooled students of equivalent grade status may enter.

In addition to our court recognizing the schools and teachers of the winning students, there are cash prizes at both the local and Ninth Circuit level.

We are encouraging the participation of all Nevada high school students and welcome a strong showing; please forward this information to English, History, US Government, Video clubs and video teachers, etc..   Please see attached for contest rules/flyer.
