HELP DESK FAQ
Attorney Admissions:
A Verified Petition is required for out of state attorneys. This form is available on our internet site under “Forms.”
Attorneys that are members of the Nevada State Bar must submit a Motion for Permission to Practice. The form is available on our internet site.

The admission fee for a Nevada attorney or out of state attorney is $200.00.

Nevada State Bar members who reside in the State of Nevada will need to submit the
paperwork in person. They will be required to be sworn in by a Deputy Clerk and must
sign the admission log before being admitted.
Nevada State Bar members who reside outside the state may be sworn at the nearest
United States District Court. Contact the Attorney Help Desk for additional information.
Out of state attorneys who are not members of the Nevada State Bar must file the
Verified Petition or Motion to Practice Pro Hac Vice electronically within the appropriate
case.

CM/ECF Registration:
Click the “Registration Form” link found below or on the District of Nevada Web site
page click “CM/ECF Info” and then click on “Attorney Registration.”

Recovering My Login and Password:
|
Instructions are posted on this internet site in the orange/amber box found in the middle
of the page. Click the link and provide the required information.

Event Selection:
Once you are in CM/ECF a blue bar will appear across the top of your page. Click on
“Search” and the “Search Menus and Events” box will appear. Enter the document title
in the search box and click “Search.” As an example, for a motion to compel you can
enter “compel” in the search box and the following results will appear:

From here, select the appropriate highlighted link and the system will take you to the
correct page to begin the filing process.

Electronic Notification Problems:
Prior to making a call to the Attorney Help Desk, please check the following:
- Check to make sure the attorney has indicated that the “ATTORNEY TO BE
NOTICED’ flag appears below the attorney’s name on the docket.
- Check in Maintain User Accounts to assure the correct email address has been
entered in the primary email address and “yes” has been checked for the following:
- Should this email address receive notices?
- Should this email address received general announcements notices from this court?

Usually there are one or more of three reasons why notifications are not received:
- The attorney is not properly registered for CM/ECF.
- The email address is incorrect.
- The attorney has entered his email addresses in both the primary and secondary
email sections.

This indicates that you have duplicate accounts in our system. Contact the Attorney Help Desk immediately. TO TOP

Updating Account Information:
|
No. In accordance with Special Order 109 it is the responsibility of the attorney to
maintain their account information.

Access CM/ECF by using your CM/ECF login and password. Once in CM/ECF select
“Utilities.” Under your account you will see the following options:
- Maintain your Email
- Maintain your Login/Password
- Maintain your Address
Select the appropriate option and make corrections. Click the “Submit all Changes”
button located at the bottom of the page when your changes are complete.

Miscellaneous FAQ:

Log into CM/ECF and select “Civil” or “Criminal” as appropriate. Under “Other Filings”
click the “Notices” link. Enter the case number and click next. If the case is correct on
the screen, click next. Under Available Events click on “Notice of Corrected
Image/Document.” Link to the incorrect event. The help desk will receive a notification
of the event and make the change.

If you see “Query,” “Reports,” and “Utilities” you are logged into Pacer. Use you
CM/ECF login to log into CM/ECF. You will know you are logged into CM/ECF if the
blue bar displays “Civil” “Criminal,” “Query,” “Reports,” and “Utilities.”
