Judge Robert Clive Jones
was appointed United
States District Judge for the
District of Nevada by President
Bush in October 2003.
He was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada.
He is married to Michele Bunker
Jones and is the father of four children.
He graduated from Brigham Young University
with honors in accounting and
then attended UCLA School of Law where
he was associate editor of the law review,
member of the Order of the Coif, and
member of the Order of Barristers. He
also served in the Nevada and California
National Guard.
Judge Jones passed the CPA examination
in 1971 and obtained his CPA Certificate
in November of 1976. He clerked
for Judge J. Clifford Wallace, Ninth Circuit
Court of Appeals, and practiced law
from 1976 to 1983. He is a member of the
State Bars of California and Nevada and
has been admitted to the United States
Tax Court.
Judge Jones was appointed as United
States Bankruptcy Judge for the District
of Nevada in February of 1983. He was
appointed to the United States Bankruptcy
Appellate Panel of the Ninth Circuit in
November 1986, and served on that Panel
until 1999. Judge Jones served as a member
of the Judicial Conference Committee
on Codes of Conduct from October 1989
until 1995.
